Heaven is for REAL

My family and I have never been Halloween enthusiasts. Hence, my siblings and I are not equipped in dressing up for “Trick or Treat”. We usually go to the province to visit but this year is an exception. Since Papa is not feeling well nowadays, the sibs and I planned a staycation at home. We bought DVDs and I made refcake for everyone to enjoy! This is the day we get to spend more time with each other. Hurrah to not having to go to classes and meetings and office! 🙂
The first movie in line was Heaven is For Real.

The story goes lightly at first but as it progresses, your skin will develop goosebumps. I don’t want to spill out the plot in any way as I want you guys to see it for yourself. As a Christian, this means so much to me. Not that I didn’t know there is heaven, but it’s a gentle reminder that God has prepared me for something I don’t deserve at all. It’s only through His grace that we are saved. And it’s only through faith that we believe.
At times, situations shake us. Our faith slowly deteriorates and that’s when we begin to doubt. But only through situations like this that we see his Glory and love for us.
When Papa was diagnosed of having an enlargement of the heart, our world seemed to be too heavy to bear. It felt burdensome for my family to see him suffering from the pain it causes him. We didn’t notice our faith has gone diminished as time passed by. We started to question God for bringing us to that situation. I consistently asked him time after time.
Until the day our spirits were all shaken. Papa was brought to the hospital and advised by the doctor to stay for further examination. His leg needed to be amputated according to them. We were all shocked.
But then God is good to us. He let us know that His power is greater than our fear. Papa got well before he was sent to the operation room. The doctors couldn’t believe their eyes. Three tests were performed to make sure Papa is okay. And yes! Only by the grace of God that Papa has showed no sign of pain anymore. The amputation procedure was no longer needed until this point in time.
You know, there are only two ways to respond to all things. It’s either to say Yes or No. When God gives you something bad, it’s either you trust Him or turn away from Him. When He gives you something good, it’s either you think you deserve it or you give praise because you believe He’s worthy.
The bible says in Deuteronomy 10:21–
“He is your praise, and he is your God, that has done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.”
Indeed, “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” just as in Romans 8:28 says.
